Ezra Klein - The rich getting richer in one chart

There are many people I know in the top 1%, or certainly the next top 4% and the next top 5%. It is difficult to view this chart and not believe we have a series of problems. This chart could emanate from globalization and it's impacts upon America's working class. Acknowledging this requires public policy change. Secondarily, we could recognize that this growing inequality could be caused by systemic educational failures, and again, we need to respond with change. Finally, what are the resulting changes to either tax policy or entitlement policy as it impacts the top 10%?

My point is that regardless of what are the core causes of the growing inequality, and people will differ, the inequality is both an attack on our democratic principles and in the long-term (which may be now), this inequality creates a drag on the overall economic growth rate of the nation.

This recognition that we are all in this together should force us to address this problem.
